AHINOAM Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing social mobility and strengthening social cohesion in Israel by expanding access to higher education and quality employment for young people from the country’s geographic and social periphery.

The Foundation was established in response to persistent and deeply rooted social and economic gaps that limit opportunities for talented young men and women growing up outside Israel’s economic and geographic center. These gaps disproportionately affect first-generation students—young people whose parents did not attain higher education—who face structural barriers at every stage of the academic and professional journey. These barriers are not the result of lack of ability or motivation, but of unequal access to resources, guidance, and opportunity.

AHINOAM operates from a clear conviction: narrowing social gaps through education and employment is not only a matter of individual advancement, but a necessary condition for a resilient, inclusive, and cohesive society. When young people are excluded from higher education and meaningful careers, inequality deepens, communities weaken, and social cohesion erodes. By contrast, when access to opportunity is broadened, the benefits extend far beyond the individual—to families, communities, and society as a whole.

Vision and Mission

AHINOAM envisions an Israel in which a young person’s place of birth, family background, or socio-economic status does not determine their future. The Foundation strives for a society where talent and effort are the primary drivers of success, and where young people from all regions have equitable access to higher education and professional opportunity.

The Foundation’s mission is to empower first-generation students and young professionals from Israel’s geographic and social periphery to overcome structural barriers, succeed in higher education, and secure quality employment Through long-term, integrated support.
