James Beck is the Chief Operating Officer of NewView Capital. James enjoys being part of a world-class organization that constantly strives to evolve and transform. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer of Mayfield, a long-standing early-stage venture fund in Menlo Park, California. Before that, he was an audit manager for Arthur Andersen where his clients consisted of various Silicon Valley technology and service organizations. James is actively involved with the NVCA’s CFO Taskforce and the COO Forum. For 14 years, he served as a member of the board of trustees, treasurer, and corporate secretary with AnitaB.org – a nonprofit organization focused on the advancement of women in technology. James attended the Executive Program at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and holds a BS in Business from the University of the Pacific. He is a certified public accountant, certified management accountant, and chartered global management accountant.
