Derek Baker

Derek Baker is a Senior Product Design Engineer at Aila Technologies, having joined the company in July 2025. Prior to this role, Derek served as the Lead Product Design Engineer at Freight Farms from October 2014 to July 2025, where responsibilities included leading the development of modular hydroponic farming systems and ensuring the integration of usability, manufacturability, and performance. Earlier experience at Freight Farms also included positions as a Senior Industrial Designer and an Industrial Designer, contributing to the evolution and initial design of modular farming systems. Derek's career began as an Art Director at Aloha Foundation from June 2012 to August 2014, overseeing art programs and managing commissioned projects. Derek earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Industrial Design from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2014.
