James Ridout

Managing Director, Head Of Healthcare & Financial Services, Private Equity at AIMCo

James Ridout, CFA, CBV has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. James is currently the Managing Director and Head of Healthcare & Financial Services in Private Equity at Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), a specialized investment management firm. In this role, they are responsible for leading direct private equity investments in healthcare, financial services, and industrials sectors, with a focus on minority transactions.

Prior to joining AIMCo, James held various positions in different organizations. James served as a Board Member at Davies Group, a risk and insurance solutions provider, and as a Board Observer at Fortitude Re, Bermuda's largest reinsurance company.

Furthermore, James has been a Board Member at Alegeus Technologies, a leading platform for the administration of US tax-advantaged benefit accounts, and at Milacron, a global manufacturer of plastics processing equipment. James also served as a Board Member at Omega General Insurance Company, where they gained valuable experience in the insurance industry.

Earlier in their career, James worked as a Vice President in Private Equity at Integrated Asset Management Corp, where they sourced, managed, and realized small to mid-market North American private equity investments. James was also a Co-founder at Independent Equity Research Corp and worked as an M&A Associate at Yorkton Securities.

James began their career as an Assistant Portfolio Manager at Stuart Investment Management Corp. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in investment management, private equity, and board governance.

James Ridout, CFA, CBV earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance, Honours from Dalhousie University in the years 1991-1995. James also attended the University of King's College from 1990-1991. Prior to that, they attended Lakefield College School from 1985-1990. James Ridout holds additional certifications including a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) obtained from The Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators in 2011, and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) obtained from the CFA Institute in 2000.
