Sameer Altaf

Sameer Altaf has an extensive work history in finance and leadership roles. Sameer currently serves as the CFO at Aion Digital since October 2021. Prior to that, they were a member of the executive team and CFO at Special Technology Zones Authority - STZA from June 2021 to September 2021.

From 2018 to 2021, Sameer held multiple roles at Mobily, including Vice President Finance and Executive General Manager Finance Operations.

Before joining Mobily, they worked as the Senior Director of Finance & Strategy at Eighteen, where they played a significant role in managing the launch of a $2 billion smart city project.

Earlier in their career, Sameer served as the Chief Financial Officer at Batelco, where they successfully implemented strategic and tactical cost reduction actions, developed the company's digital strategy, executed finance transformation initiatives, and achieved significant growth in fixed broadband market share. Sameer also held the position of Group Financial Controller and Interim Chief Financial Officer during their tenure at Batelco.

Sameer has also held positions at Mobilink, Saudi Telecom Company, Millicom (Part of Kinnevik Group), and Price Waterhouse Coopers, where they gained experience in budgeting, planning & reporting, financial advisory, and internal auditing. Notably, they performed risk and audit assessments for various global companies during their time with Millicom.

Sameer Altaf attended the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in 2019, where they completed the Oxford Fintech Programme in the field of Fintech. In 2006, they undertook executive education at Harvard Business School, focusing on managing in fast growth companies. Also in 2006, they pursued studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the field of building sustainable growth. Sameer is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK, having obtained the FCCA degree in finance. Sameer is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, having earned the FCA degree in finance.
