Koen Vanhalst

Koen Vanhalst has extensive experience in biotechnology and intellectual property, currently serving as a Guest Lecturer at Ghent University since September 2015, where responsibilities include teaching a Master Course in (Plant) Biotechnology. Koen is also a member of the AIPPI Standing Committee on Biotechnology and serves on the VARIO Flemish Advisory Council for Innovation and Enterprise. Previous roles include a PhD student and researcher at VIB, where the focus shifted from cancer research to brain development, and a patent adviser at De Clercq Brants and Partners, along with certification as a European Patent Attorney. Koen has held various positions at the European Patent Office, including as an examiner and a member of the Professional Conduct Committee. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Biotechnology and a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Ghent University.
