Jonathan Kleinman

Co-Founder & CEO at AIQUEOUS

Jonathan co-founded AIQUEOUS in 2015, at a time when Texas was in the middle of its Drought of Record. Building on his professional experience as an Executive, Director, and Analyst in the energy and water sectors, he wanted to create a software platform to help utilities evolve their business models and address the issues of climate change, drought, and energy and water reliability. That drive has given rise to the WaterWays and POWERPATH platforms and their product roadmap.

In the energy sector for the past 20 years, he has served as an advisor to utility clients and participated in legislative and regulatory proceedings, managed enterprise results from third-party evaluations, directed program implementation teams, and worked directly with businesses and institutions to manage their energy use. Over the past five years, AIQUEOUS has conducted energy efficiency potential studies in the water and wastewater treatment sectors and has advised utilities on program planning and evaluation.

In the water sector, Jonathan supported local watershed planning efforts and the development of water quality regulations and guidance documents for Federal NPDES, TMDL, and water quality standard programs. Over the past five years, AIQUEOUS has conducted water conservation potential studies, performed the analysis for the Texas Water Conservation Scorecard, and implemented and evaluated a peak demand reduction program using smart irrigation controllers.

Jonathan holds Masters degrees in Environmental Engineering and in Technology & Policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Bachelors degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Policy from Cornell University. He has also been a Certified Energy Manager and member of the Association of Energy Engineers since 2003.
