Simon Bowyer

Simon Bowyer's work experience begins in 1993 when they worked as an Avionics Technician for the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Simon then became a Military Officer for the same organization from 1998 to 2001. In 2002, they worked as a Systems Engineer at Bombardier UK.

In 2004, Simon joined Mott MacDonald as a Technology and Communications Consultant, a role they held until 2015. During this time, they gained expertise in this field.

In 2015, Simon had two simultaneous roles. Simon worked as a Director at Adapdyn from April 2015 to August 2017. In addition, they worked as a data scientist at NEAR YOU NOW LTD from July 2015 to December 2015.

Simon joined Airfinity Ltd in September 2017 as a Senior Data Engineer and worked in this role until February 2019. Simon then became a Lead Engineer at the same company, responsible for designing and building the life sciences data pipeline from scratch. Currently, they hold the position of VP of Engineering at Airfinity Ltd, managing a backend team and leading the company's developers. Throughout their time at Airfinity Ltd, Simon has gained experience in various technologies such as Python, SQL (Postgres), Prefect, Elasticsearch, AWS, and Airtable integration.

Simon Bowyer obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Modern Communication Technologies with Business Management from the University of Sussex, which they pursued from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they attended Christchurch Polytechnic from 1994 to 1995, where they completed a degree in Electronics & Computer Technology, specifically a NZCE qualification.
