Kai Kontio

Kai Kontio has a long and varied work experience in the technology industry. Kai began their career in 2008 as a Software Engineer at Taisia, where they did part-time web development and testing using the LAMP stack and CakePHP. In 2011, Kai joined the Finnish Forest Research Institute as a Junior Data Architect and Web Development Intern, where they designed, developed, tested, and documented a forestry research information web service using the LAMP stack and Drupal. In 2012, Kai joined Analyse2 as a Principal Architect, leading the organization-wide Cloud Guild responsible for Analyse2's cloud platform vision, development, and advocacy. Kai also served as a Cloud Solutions Architect, leading the migration of Analyse2's products and services from hand-crafted servers to a modern cloud native platform. In addition, Kai was a Software Team Lead, leading the software development team responsible for bringing Analyse2's next generation Assortment Planning, Pricing, and Campaign Planning products to market. Finally, they were a Software Designer, responsible for systems integration, requirements engineering, software design and implementation, testing, documentation, maintenance, and software process improvement. In 2021, Kai joined Aiven as Director Of Engineering and Engineering Manager.

Kai Kontio began their educational career at Kastelli High School, where they completed their Matriculation examination in 2004. Kai then went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at the University of Helsinki, which they completed in 2013. Kai is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree program in Computer Science at the University of Helsinki.
