Nick Farrell has over 20 years of work experience in the software engineering industry. Nick began their career in 2001 as a Software QA Engineer at Vision BioSystems. In 2006, they became a Software Developer at Toggletext, where they helped develop machine translation software. In 2007, they were a BlueNet Data Administrator at the Bureau of Meteorology. In 2008, they were a Data Manager and Consultant at the National Institute of Economic and Industry Research. Nick also worked as a Web2GIS Developer at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. In 2010, they were a Senior Web Developer at McKesson Asia-Pacific and a Lead Developer at Fitness2live. Nick also became a Senior Agile Developer and Architect at Medibank Health Solutions. Theirachievements at GenesisCare include establishing a 3-tier Terraform-managed infrastructure-as-code model, decoupling application build pipelines and assets from deployment assets, building enhanced tooling to support RDS/Postgres database backups/transformations/restores, building a prototype multi-service stateful monitoring tool, and establishing deidentification tooling. In 2022, they began working at Aiven as a Senior Software Engineer.

Nick Farrell attended Banyule High School from 1986 to 1991. Nick then went on to University of Melbourne, where they earned a BSc in Mathematics and Psychology between 1992 and 1996.
