Ryan Skraba has held a variety of positions in the technology industry since 2002. Ryan began their career as a Software Engineer at Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs France, where they worked on UMTS/3G, Radio Heterogeneity, IMS Converging Applications, and Social Communications. In 2012, they were promoted to Senior Research Engineer in Privacy Preserving Data Analytics, and then in 2014 they moved to Talend as a Principle Open Source Software Engineer. In 2013, they joined Google as a Software Engineer, where they improved the pipeline for generating lists of the hottest, fresh videos on YouTube and worked on the underlying infrastructure of automatically organizing videos into YouTube channels. In 2019, they became a Member and Committer and PMC Member of Apache Avro at The Apache Software Foundation. Currently, they are a Staff Software Engineer at Aiven.
Ryan Skraba attended the University of Victoria from 1992 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering.
