Ty Mitchell

Ty Mitchell has over 25 years of professional experience in executive management, operations, and strategy. Ty has held various leadership positions since 1993, when they began their career as a Senior Manager at McKinsey & Company. In 1999, they became the Chief Operating Officer at Nova Crystals, Inc. In 2004, they joined Cree, Inc. as Executive Vice President/Vice President and General Manager of LED Lighting. Ty also served as Vice President and General Manager of LED Chips/Optoelectronics and GaN/SiC Materials, Director of Operations and Marketing for Optoelectronics, and Vice President of Strategy. In 2015, they founded Akash Systems and Carapace Group (Executive Management Consulting), where they currently serve as Founder and Managing Director and Founder and CEO, respectively.

Ty Mitchell obtained their B.S. in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1988. Ty then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, which they earned in 1993.
