Kurt Steiner

Kurt Steiner is a seasoned conservation law enforcement professional with extensive experience in anti-poaching and biodiversity protection. Currently serving as a Senior Director of Programmes at Akashinga since January 2025, Kurt leads operations across Africa, focusing on strategic alignment with conservation and community empowerment. Previous roles include Head of Law Enforcement at African Parks Network, where Kurt developed and implemented a counter-poaching strategy for over 1,100 rangers, and Africa Representative for The Wildcat Foundation, managing a $20 million budget for counter-poaching initiatives. Prior experience encompasses positions as an Anti-Poaching Specialist at Mantra Uranium, Senior Instructor at Conservation Outcomes Ltd., and Infantry Soldier in the Australian Army. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Intelligence and Security from Brunel University London.
