Jim Deiotte

Jim Deiotte is a Corporate Associate at Akerman LLP, specializing in M&A and corporate transactions with a focus on middle-market private equity since March 2021. Prior to this role, Jim served as an Associate at Sidley Austin LLP, representing various clients in M&A, capital markets, and corporate governance matters. Earlier experiences include a Summer Associate position and a PILI Graduate Fellowship at Loyola University Chicago's Federal Tax Clinic, as well as a Tax Analyst role at Exelon, where Jim supported state and local tax planning and strategy. Jim's career began at EY, where a tenure as a Senior Tax Associate was complemented by earlier experience as Assurance Staff. Academically, Jim holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Business Law from DePaul University College of Law and has degrees in Accounting from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the University of Miami, along with additional studies at The London School of Economics and a foundational International Baccalaureate from the American School of Warsaw.
