Akij Group was founded by Sheikh Akij Uddin in 1940 with a vision of using natural resources like the golden fiber Jute, to show case to the world the strength of Bangladesh.

Starting from 2016, its new-age plastic venture Akij Plastics Ltd. (APL) carries forward the same baton.
