Kumar G. has a wealth of experience in the technology industry. Kumar began their career in 1994 as a Rockwell Fellow and Distinguished Engineer at Rockwell Semiconductor. In 1999, they founded and became Chief Technology Officer of VxTel, which was later acquired by Intel for $550M. Kumar then worked at Intel as a Principal Engineer from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, they became an Entrepreneur in Residence at Artiman Ventures. From 2006 to 2013, they co-founded and served as CEO and Chief Business Officer of Virident, which was acquired by HGST for $685M. Kumar then worked as VP of Products and Strategy at HGST, a Western Digital company, from 2013 to 2016. In 2016, they became a Seed Investor at Deepvision, Managing Partner at Enterprise Labs, and Investor at PrimaryIO. In 2018, they became Chairman and Co-Founder of Akridata. In 2020, they became Founding Director of 3iPartners (Impact India Investment Partnership), a platform to accelerate India's social enterprises through a Capital-with-a-Conscience investment model.

Kumar G. began their educational journey in 1983 when they earned a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in EP from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Kumar then continued their studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1989. Finally, Kumar G. completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in ECE from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1994.
