Michael E. Frank

Michael Frank has 38 years of experience in operating, investment and advisory roles within the information technology market. He enjoys working with management teams in early/growth stage companies to define business strategy; prioritize sales, marketing, and business development activities; and develop management leadership. In addition to being an Akumina director, Mr. Frank is Chairman of the Advisory Board at iQ3Connect. He also actively advises and mentors companies within MassChallenge, the MIT Venture Mentoring Service and the MIT Enterprise Forum. Mr. Frank focuses on the software, communications, and Internet infrastructure markets. His particular interests include cloud computing, digital media, e-commerce, enterprise computing, Internet infrastructure, and mobile/wireless technologies. Over the course of his career, Mr. Frank has invested in or advised over 100 early-stage technology companies.

Mr. Frank was most recently a General Partner at Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV), an early-stage, technology-oriented venture capital firm with approximately $1.5B under management. ATV has offices in both Boston, MA and Palo Alto, CA. While at ATV, Mr. Frank managed the firm’s east coast IT investment effort. Mr. Frank was an investor in and Board member of a number of companies including BizLand/Endurance International (EIGI), DataSage (acquired by Vignette), WebLine Communications (acquired by Cisco Systems), and WorldStreet (acquired by Thomson Reuters)
