Mark Nitzberg

Mark Nitzberg is an accomplished leader in artificial intelligence and technology, currently serving as the Interim Executive Director at the International Association for Safe & Ethical AI since October 2024. Nitzberg has been the Executive Director of the Center for Human-Compatible AI since February 2017, where responsibilities include overseeing operations and strategic direction while advising on policy implications of technology. Additionally, Nitzberg holds an advisory role in outreach at the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab and co-founded Akvo, a consultancy improving international development projects. Previous leadership positions include co-founding DMAI, serving as Director of Computer Vision Products at A9.com, and founding CEO of The Blindsight Corporation. Nitzberg holds a PhD in Computer Science from Harvard University and has extensive experience in both the tech and educational sectors.
