Alba is a Brazilian non-profit that partners with municipal departments of education to implement learning recovery/remediation programs in classrooms. Our mission is to ensure that every student in Brazil's public school system reaches at least the adequate level of learning, closing learning gaps and reducing educational inequality.

We work end to end, from system management to the classroom, through an integrated approach that combines instructional materials focused on foundational learning, teacher training, and ongoing support for education managers. Grounded in a detailed, evidence-based pedagogical diagnosis, we guide more effective learning-recovery actions and strategies throughout the school year.

Our pedagogical approach also strengthens local government's performance in Brazil's results-based funding mechanisms: public financing programs that reward public networks for improving learning outcomes and reducing inequality. We are specialists in these mechanisms and help systems increase their chances of securing future funding, resources that can be reinvested in more learning and better-quality education.

We believe systemic change is built step by step: with every recovery strategy, by listening to all the stakeholders involved, and through a sustained commitment to closing learning gaps and reducing inequality as a top public-policy priority. Our goal is to secure foundational learning and foster the full development of every student, so that no one is left behind.
