Albany Chess Center is dedicated to making chess accessible to everyone in the Capital Region. We nurture strategic minds and build a community of passionate chess players of all ages and skill levels.

We offer comprehensive chess education through multiple programs:

In-School & After-School Programs – We partner with schools throughout the Capital Region to bring the benefits of chess directly to students, enhancing critical thinking, focus, and problem-solving skills during and after the school day.

Online Chess Lessons – Our flexible, one-on-one online coaching with top instructors is available from anywhere in the world, making expert chess instruction accessible to students beyond our physical location.

Weekly Tournaments & Events – We host regular chess tournaments and community events that provide players opportunities to compete, improve, and connect with fellow chess enthusiasts.

Why chess matters: Chess develops critical thinking, patience, focus, social skills, and academic success. It improves logical reasoning, concentration, sportsmanship, and enhances performance in math, reading, and memory.

Albany Chess Center provides expert instruction, a welcoming community, and opportunities to grow both on and off the board.
