ALBON is a Sydney-based climate-tech company helping agri-food operators lower wastewater treatment costs, reduce chemical dosing and sludge disposal, and meet tightening nutrient discharge requirements without major plant upgrades. Its modular, solar-powered algae-bacteria system is designed for high-strength wastewater from meat, dairy, and food-processing facilities, removing phosphorus and nitrogen as a low-energy tertiary polishing step. ALBON also converts harvested biomass and primary treatment sludge into biochar, turning a costly waste stream into a valuable soil input with long-term carbon storage benefits.

Based at the Sydney Knowledge Hub, ALBON has completed its pilot with Canterbury-Bankstown Council and is progressing toward its first paid industrial deployment. The company is led by a founding team with strengths across bioreactor operations, wastewater engineering, finance, and commercial execution, and has earned recognition through the Australian Water Awards, Business NSW State Awards, the Hult Prize Global Accelerator, and the MIT Climate & Energy Prize.
