David Andrews

David Andrews has extensive work experience in the field of human factors engineering. David currently holds the position of Associate Director in Human Factors Engineering at Alcon since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Principal Human Factors Engineer and Principal Engineer (Human Factors) at Alcon from 2020 to 2022.

Before joining Alcon, David worked as a Senior Human Factors Engineer at Physio-Control, now part of Stryker, from 2017 to 2020. In this role, they were responsible for the development of human factors and usability program plans for products, as well as providing advice on design development for defibrillator products.

David also has experience as a Senior Human Factors Engineer at FUJIFILM SonoSite, Inc. from 2016 to 2017. Here, their role involved developing human factors program plans and providing advice on design development for ultrasound products.

David also worked as a User Researcher at Oculus VR from 2015 to 2016, where they provided ergonomics advice for virtual reality hardware and software design and conducted user research trials.

Prior to that, they served as a Principal Human Factors Consultant at Quintec Associates Ltd and BAE Systems, with responsibilities including providing support to government science and technology projects, managing human factors interventions, and leading cockpit design projects for aircraft.

Overall, David Andrews has a strong background in human factors engineering and has held various positions in both industry and government organizations throughout their career.

David Andrews completed their undergraduate education from 1985 to 1989 at Loughborough University, earning a BSc degree in Ergonomics. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Unconscious Bias from LinkedIn in 2021.
