David Borja

David Borja is an accomplished professional in the field of biomedical engineering, currently serving as the Director of Lens Design and Vision Science at Alcon since April 2015. With a robust background at Alcon, prior roles included Associate Director and Principal Engineer, focusing on lens design and vision-related projects. Between March 2010 and February 2015, David held various positions at Alcon Laboratories, Inc., including Lead Opto-mechanical Engineer and Senior Engineer in Surgical Research and Development. Earlier experience includes a role as a Senior Scientist at Avedro, Inc., and a Research Scientist position at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where significant contributions to optical instrument design and imaging techniques were made. David also consulted for Boston Scientific Corporation on maintenance procedures. Academic credentials include a Ph.D., MSBME, and BSBME in Biomedical Engineering, all obtained from the University of Miami between 1996 and 2008.
