Joe Rappon

Vice President, Pharma R&d at Alcon

Joe Rappon has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Joe began their career as a Resident Doctor at the Hampton VA Medical Center in 2000. Joe then worked as an Associate Center Director at Eye Health Partners from 2001 to 2003. Following this, they served as an Optometrist at East Metro Eyecare, P.C. from 2003 to 2005.

In 2005, Joe joined CIBA Vision, where they held several roles, including Manager of Medical Marketing and Manager of Clinical Research. Joe also served as the Director of Medical Affairs and Consultation during their time at CIBA Vision.

In 2011, Joe joined Alcon, A Novartis Division, where they served in various leadership roles. These positions included Head of Clinical Trial Management, Head of Clinical Development for Vision Care, and Head of Clinical Development for Surgical Products. Joe also worked as the Global Program Head, leading a multidisciplinary team focused on securing global regulatory approval and market access for Alcon's products.

In 2018, Joe joined SightGlass Vision, Inc. as the Chief Medical Officer. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Pharma R&D at Alcon, a position they assumed in 2022.

Joe Rappon attended SUNY Geneseo from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry. Joe then went on to study at the State University of New York College of Optometry from 1996 to 2000, earning an OD and an MS degree in Optometry and Vision Science.
