Mike Mattes

Mike Mattes is an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in electronic design and technology development. Currently serving as Associate Director at Alcon Laboratories, Inc. since December 2011, Mike supports the development of advanced Interoptic Lens technologies, focusing on electronics, MEMS packaging, and power sources. Prior experience includes a role as Principal Electronics Design Engineer at Medtronic, where Mike designed sensors using both traditional electronics and MEMS technologies. Mike also operated as President of MicroMechatronics, providing independent consulting on mixed analog/digital integrated circuits, and served as Senior Scientist at SSI Technologies, Inc., managing product development and pioneering pressure sensor technology. Earlier in the career, Mike worked as a Digital Electronics Design Engineer at Motorola Solutions, contributing to the design of circuitry and embedded microprocessor software for RF communications. Mike holds a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MSEE in Micromechanics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
