Pat Terry

Principal Engineer Ii, Robotics at Alcon

Pat Terry has a diverse work experience in the field of robotics and engineering. They began their career as an intern at EPSEM in 2008, where they learned about fabrication of GaN transistors and developed presentation skills. In 2009, they worked as a tutor at Tau Beta Pi.

From 2010 to 2016, Pat Terry worked at UC Santa Barbara as a Graduate Student Researcher, focusing on control of underactuated legged systems and hopping robot models. They also served as a Teaching Assistant, holding tutoring hours and designing course materials for an engineering course on Robot Dynamics and Control.

In 2017, Pat Terry joined TrueVision 3D Surgical as a Senior Software Engineer, working on algorithm development and software implementation for robotics. They also served as a Robotics Consultant, simulating kinematics and prototyping control algorithms.

Currently, Pat Terry is working at Alcon as a Principal Engineer II. They are involved in algorithm and software development for robotic 3D microscopes, with a focus on ophthalmology applications.

Pat Terry holds an educational background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. They began their studies at Santa Barbara City College, where they obtained a Transfer Achievement Certificate. Pat then pursued further education at UC Santa Barbara, where they completed a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. They went on to earn a Master's degree in the same field from UC Santa Barbara as well. Eventually, Pat obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara, completing their highest level of education in 2016.
