Philipp Baumli

Principal Scientist

Philipp Baumli is a highly skilled scientist with a proven track record in polymer research and materials characterization. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University from October 2020 to January 2023, Philipp Baumli developed custom-designed instruments for quantifying adhesive strength in ocular models and conducted investigations on fluid instabilities in model corneas. Currently serving as a Principal Scientist at Alcon since February 2023, Philipp Baumli focuses on advanced analytical methods to explore structure-property relationships in polymeric materials, while also providing scientific leadership in addressing complex chemistry challenges. Prior to this, as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research from November 2016 to September 2020, Philipp Baumli created methodologies for in situ lubricant replenishment on liquid-infused surfaces using various advanced techniques. Philipp Baumli holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from the Max Planck Society, earned in 2020.
