Stefan Koch has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Stefan began their career at the University of Applied Sciences, Jena, where they worked as a Lecturer in Computer Science. In 1998, they joined ams AG as an Engineer specializing in Industrial Ethernet and Realtime Operating Systems. In 2001, Stefan moved to IBM Deutschland GmbH, where they took on the role of Software Platform Teamlead. While at IBM, they led the firmware team for the development of the world's first Petaflop Supercomputer and also contributed to the software development for a BlueGene-Q Supercomputer.

Following their time at IBM, Stefan joined MEN Mikroelektronik GmbH as an Avionics Networks Software Architect in 2011. During the same year, they took up the role of a Software Architect at Siemens AG, Healthcare, where they served as the Technical Lead for the Realtime Profinet/ProfiSafe Control Software Platform for the Angiometric Imaging System. Most recently, Stefan worked at Alcon, where they held the position of Principal Engineer, Software Architect, and Technical Lead. Here, they were responsible for the software development of ophthalmic surgical and diagnostics devices and led the architecture team.
