Sumit Paliwal

Sumit Paliwal is currently the Vice President of Diagnostics & Visualization in Surgical Instrumentation R&D at Alcon. They have extensive experience leading high-performance, cross-functional teams and have a strong background in the development of Class III medical devices. Sumit co-invented and contributed to a venture-backed medical device startup while serving as an Assistant Specialist and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In previous roles, they held management and leadership positions at Allergan and Alcon, focusing on product development and regulatory affairs. Sumit earned a B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.
