Medical Director, Neurology at Alector

Adam Simmons has a diverse work experience in neurology and medical director roles. Adam is currently working as a Medical Director, Neurology at Alector since December 2022. Previously, they served as a Medical Director at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from April 2021 to December 2022. Before that, they were the Director of Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center at the Hospital for Special Care from 2013 to April 2021. Adam has also worked as a Neurologist and Acupuncturist at Springfield Neurology Associates from 2011 to 2012, and as an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Acupuncturist at the University of Connecticut Health Center from 2006 to 2011.

Adam Simmons has an extensive education history in the field of medicine. Adam obtained an Sc.B. degree in Evolutionary Biology from Brown University in 1995. Following this, they attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where they earned their M.D. degree in Medicine in 2001.

Adam then pursued a medical internship at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine from 2001 to 2002. Afterwards, they completed a Neurology Residency Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center - Harvard University, spanning from 2002 to 2005. During their residency, they also studied acupuncture at Harvard Medical School in 2005.

In 2005-2006, Adam undertook a Movement Disorders Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center - Harvard University.

Additionally, Adam has obtained two certifications. Adam became a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in May 2007 and attained Diplomate status in the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine in February 2013.
