Zhan Li is an accomplished algorithm expert currently working at Alibaba Group since August 2021, focusing on developing AI algorithms for wind speed and electric power prediction in wind farms. Prior to this role, Zhan served as a meteorological data scientist at The Weather Network from June 2017 to July 2022, where leadership was provided in a unified nowcasting project for accurate precipitation forecasts. Zhan's academic journey includes a postdoctoral fellowship at York University from January 2014 to May 2017, where a high-resolution regional numerical weather prediction system was developed in collaboration with The Weather Network. Earlier experience includes a role as a research assistant at the University of Utah from August 2009 to December 2013, concentrating on 4D-variational data assimilation of airborne radar. Zhan holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Utah and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from Chengdu University of Information Technology.
