Jerome Santos

Jerome Santos has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2012 when they served as Office Manager for the Non-Traditional Student Resource Center. In 2013, they began their Graduate Student Researcher role at Morse Lab, UCSB, where they biochemically dissected the mechanism responsible for tunable photonic nanostructures in the irridophores of certain species of squid, and gained a mastery of current techniques in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and materials science. In 2018, they joined Encodia, Inc. as an Associate Scientist, where they were responsible for research, development, and production of bioconjugates and biomaterials, assay development and automation, and breadboard troubleshooting and iteration. Jerome was later promoted to Senior Research Associate and Research Associate II. In 2021, they joined Alida Biosciences as a Scientist and Scientist II.

Jerome Santos obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry from UC Santa Barbara between 2011 and 2015. Jerome then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Barbara from 2015 to 2018. In 2016, they obtained a Graduate Certificate in Technology Management from the same university. Prior to that, they attended Brea Olinda High School from 2007 to 2011.
