Brian Aquila

Brian Aquila is an accomplished pharmaceutical executive with extensive experience in medicinal and molecular chemistry. Currently serving as Vice President and Interim Head of Research at Alkermes since January 2017, responsibilities include overseeing the Design, Make, Test, Analyze (DMTA) cycle and leading teams in synthetic and medicinal chemistry, as well as expanding the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology team. Previous roles at Alkermes include Executive Director of Molecular Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry, where significant contributions to drug candidate development were made. Prior to Alkermes, Brian Aquila worked at AstraZeneca where leadership roles in oncology research led to the progression of multiple candidate drugs. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from The Ohio State University and postdoctoral research at Scripps Research Institute.
