Samir Koirala

Samir Koirala is an accomplished neuroscientist with extensive experience in neurobiology research. Currently serving as VP and Head of Neurobiology Research at Alkermes since August 2025, Samir previously held significant roles at Biogen, including Head of Genetic, Neurodevelopmental & Epilepsy Disorders Research, as well as positions ranging from Senior Director to Associate Director from June 2020 to August 2025. Prior to Biogen, Samir worked at Amgen as a Senior Scientist and Scientist from 2011 to 2017 and conducted postdoctoral research as a Research Fellow at Children's Hospital Boston, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, from 2003 to 2010. Samir holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Neurobiology from the University of Southern California, obtained between 1996 and 2002, and a B.A. in Biology from Pomona College, completed in 1996.
