John McAuley has had a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. John has served as the Chief Technology Officer at Alkimii since 2018, responsible for developing analytical tools for customers. Prior to this, they worked as the Head of Analytics at Alkimii from 2016 to 2018.
John has also worked as a Machine Learning and Visualisation Lecturer at the Dublin Institute of Technology since 2015, teaching and conducting research in visual analytics. Additionally, they were the Chief Data Scientist at Wripl in 2015 and a Data Scientist at Novartis during the same year.
In 2014, John worked as the Lead Data Scientist at Boxever, and in 2013, they served as a Part-Time Information and Data Visualisation Lecturer at the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Before that, they were a Post-Doc Researcher at Trinity College Dublin from 2013 to 2014 and a PhD Researcher from 2008 to 2013, focusing on social media, online communities, and data visualization. John also co-founded 45sound (now known as fanfootage) and served as the CTO from 2011 to 2013.
Starting their career, John worked as a Research and Development Scientist at the Dublin Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2008.
John McAuley completed their education with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, which they pursued from 2008 to 2013. Prior to that, they earned a Masters degree in Online communities and Knowledge Representation from Technological University Dublin, attending from 2005 to 2007. John's undergraduate education was at the University of Limerick, where they obtained a 2.1 degree in Computer Science, completing their studies between 1997 and 2001.
