Syed Ali

Syed Ali has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Syed is currently working as the Director of Solutions Engineering at Alkira, Inc., a position they have held since January 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Solutions Engineer at the company from December 2018 to January 2022.

Before joining Alkira, Syed worked at Cisco as a Technical Solutions Architect starting from August 2017. At Cisco, they were involved in planning, designing, and implementing next-gen architectures for a large healthcare provider. Syed also led Proof of Concept (PoC) activities and built bill-of-materials.

Syed's journey in the networking industry began at Virtela Communications in December 2004, where they worked as a Network Operations Engineer. Syed was responsible for resolving network outages and identifying root causes, as well as configuring and staging data communications equipment for network expansion projects.

Prior to Virtela, Syed gained experience as an Engineering Technical Services Intern at NetLibrary. Their role involved providing helpdesk support, troubleshooting network outages, and completing projects efficiently.

In 2007, Syed joined Cisco again, this time as a Lead Network Consulting Engineer. Syed played a pivotal role in large-scale Data Center network deployments for both Enterprise and Service Provider customers. Their responsibilities included end-to-end design, implementation, and support of Data Center networks, with a focus on Cloud computing networks.

From 2006 to 2006, Syed worked at Level 3 Communications as a Voice Global Network Engineer. During this period, they maintained the existing infrastructure and worked closely with voice testing product vendors to build test beds that mimicked the production environment.

In 2014, Syed joined Viptela as a Senior Systems Engineer, where their primary role was to introduce the best WAN SDN solution to customers. Syed designed next-generation WAN architectures, conducted technical presentations, and led PoC activities to enhance Viptela's footprint and product awareness.

Throughout their career, Syed has demonstrated strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a customer-oriented mindset.

Syed Ali's education history includes obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems & Accounting from the University of Colorado Boulder between 2001 and 2005. Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications at the same institution, completing it from 2005 to 2007.
