These essential products support health and dignity but become one of the most problematic waste streams after use. Around 250 million single-use diapers are discarded globally every day, contributing to more than 38 million tons of solid waste each year. Disposable diapers can take up to 500 years to decompose, posing a persistent environmental challenge.
Alkyl Recycling has developed a proprietary low-temperature chemo-mechanical process that separates used diapers into high-quality plastics, cellulose, and super-absorbent polymers. Our technology achieves high material recovery with net-negative CO₂ emissions, offering a scalable and economically viable alternative to landfill and incineration.
Based at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Alkyl collaborates with stakeholders to accelerate large-scale deployment. Our mission is simple: preserve the benefits of diapers without the environmental cost.
