Michael Allen

CEO and Chairman at Allen Interactions

Michael Allen has been in the technology industry since 1974, when they began working as the Director of Advanced Instructional Systems R&D at Control Data Corporation (CDC). In this role, they conducted research on human learning and the use of interactive software to both manage and teach, and developed PLM, one of the earliest LCMS systems, as well as PCD3, the prototype and precursor to Authorware. Michael then went on to become the Director of Advanced Learning Systems R&D (PLATO) at CDC, where they designed and led the development of PLM, the most used LMS system of the day, and PCD3, the precursor to Authorware.

In 1987, Michael Allen founded Authorware, Inc., where they served as Chairman. Michael designed, built, and marketed Authorware (originally titled Course of Action), and the company merged with Macromind/Paracomp to create Macromedia and then immediately went public.

Michael Allen has been the CEO and Chairman of Allen Interactions Inc. since 1993.

Michael Allen attended Cornell College from 1964 to 1968, where they earned a B.A. in Psychology. Michael then attended The Ohio State University from 1968 to 1969, earning an M.A. in Psychology. Michael continued at The Ohio State University from 1969 to 1971, earning a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.
