Alleviate Trauma is a Washington, DC–based psychotherapy practice specializing in the treatment of trauma. We help adults move through the weight of what they've lived, from single overwhelming events to the complex, long-held trauma that shapes how a person feels in their own body and relationships.
Our work is depth-oriented and grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed care. We specialize in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) — approaches that reach the root of trauma rather than managing symptoms on the surface. Alleviate Trauma is an affirming practice, offering a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients of all identities, with particular care for LGBTQ+ and queer communities. Founded and led by Jess Stern, LPC, an EMDRIA-certified EMDR therapist. Telehealth sessions are available in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
The goal is simple: relief from what you carry, and a way back to yourself.
