Simon van Heeringen

Simon van Heeringen is a skilled Data Science Software Engineer currently employed at Alliander since June 2024. Prior to this role, Simon served as Principal Scientist and Bioinformatician at Scenic Biotech, focusing on computational models and machine learning for target identification in rare diseases from June 2022 to June 2024. At Radboud University Nijmegen, Simon held the positions of Group Leader and Assistant Professor in Computational Biology from August 2012 to June 2024, leading research on transcription regulation in animal development, and also conducted post-doctoral research in computational epigenetics at Erasmus MC in early 2012. Simon's academic career began at Radboud University Nijmegen as a PhD student in Computational Developmental Biology, emphasizing gene regulation using high-throughput genomic techniques. Early teaching experience at Hogeschool Leiden involved lecturing in bioinformatics and curriculum development for the Bioinformatics Bachelor program.
