Rick Beaton

Rick Beaton has an extensive work experience in the technology industry. Rick started off as a Signal Processing Analyst at Tiac Systems in 1986. Rick then moved to MPR Teltech in 1988, where they served as Manager of Technology Development and contributed to the development of MPEG Audio, Digital Radio and subjective evaluation standards. In 1995, they co-founded QDesign Corporation, where they served as CEO, CTO and Founder. Rick bootstrapped the company to become a leading audio compression technology provider to entertainment, broadcast and multimedia industries. In 2004, QDesign was acquired by DTS Inc., and they served as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of R&D and Engineering. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Consultant and Investor. In 2016, they co-founded Sessionwire Communications and served as Chief Technology Officer.

Rick Beaton attended Simon Fraser University from 1982 to 1986, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computing Science.
