Antonio Munŏz

Director, Laser Labs at AlphaMicron

Antonio heads the laser labs at AlphaMicron, where their research in intense light protection is performed.

An award-winning scientist with over 30 years of experience in the field of optical physics, spectroscopy, and lasers, Antonio uses his knowledge of ANSI optics to characterize material and device performance of active light management solutions in mission critical situations. He received his BS, MSc, and Ph.D. in Optical Physics at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa (UAM-I), Mexico and remains a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. Antonio has received awards for his contribution to the fields of optics and physics, including the Weizmann Prize. His many publications have appeared in peer reviewed journals in the areas of optics, lasers, liquid crystals, and spectroscopy. He is also co-inventor of a number of AlphaMicron patents. Prior to his current role, Dr. Munoz was Head of the Laboratory of Magneto-Optics and Spectroscopy, and co-chair of the program “Sundays with Science” (AMC, 1995-1999).
