Thomas Karampelas

Thomas Karampelas is a Senior Search Engineer at AlphaSense since July 2023, with a strong background in software engineering and information discovery. Prior to this role, Thomas worked at Atypon from September 2017 to July 2023, where responsibilities included search, ranking, and recommendation functionalities for major academic publishers' platforms, as well as tuning search indexing and relevance. Thomas also participated in the hiring process and contributed to reducing bug counts through improved testing. Previous experiences include serving as a Database Administrator during compulsory military service at the Hellenic Army Information Technology Support Center, working as a Research Associate and Software Engineer at MADgIK, and completing a technical student internship at CERN. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Computer System Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Informatics and Telecommunications from the University of Athens.
