Marco Baez

Dr. Marco Báez has been working in the industrial biotechnology, biopharma and renewable energy space for over twenty years. Dr. Marco began their career in 2001 as a Senior Principal Scientist Enzyme Technology and Industrial Microbiology at Altus Biologics-Vertex Pharmaceuticals. In 2004, they became the International Head Advanced Biofuels and Bioenergy Program at Dyadic International, Inc. In 2009, they took on the role of Industrial Biotech at JB, LLC, where they were responsible for significant international business operations and strong management of technology innovation, transfer and licensing. Dr. Marco currently works as the CSTO at Alphazyme LLC.

Dr. Marco Baez began their educational journey in 1979 when they earned a BSc. (Honors) in Biochemical Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey. Dr. Marco then went on to receive a Master of Business Administration - MBA in Marketing from the same institution in 1984-1986. Subsequently, Dr. Baez earned a MSc. in Biochemistry and Medical Nutrition from King's College London in 1988-1989, followed by a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Bioengineering from the same institution in 1990-1993. Lastly, from 1995-1998, they completed postdoctoral work in Industrial Microbiology, Fermentation Tech., Enzyme Tech., and Chem. (Biocatalysis) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
