The Alps Surgery Institute (ASI) is an orthoplastic surgery center specializing in limb reconstruction, based in Annecy, France. Founded in 2005 by Dr Laurent Lafosse as an educational hub dedicated to shoulder surgery, ASI is now led by Dr Thibault Lafosse, while continuing to benefit from Dr Laurent Lafosse’s ongoing clinical, educational, and research expertise.

ASI is built on three core pillars:
• Patient care, with recognized expertise in shoulder, elbow, hand, brachial plexus, peripheral nerve, and microvascular reconstructive surgery. Through the collaboration of Dr Thibault Lafosse and Dr Michael Bouyer, ASI manages highly complex cases, from trauma to microvascular muscle transfers aimed at restoring upper and lower limb function.
• Training, through a comprehensive fellowship program welcoming both short-term observers and long-term fellows involved in surgery, clinics, and research.
• Research, advancing the understanding of patients’ conditions and driving continuous surgical innovation.

ASI’s activity is supported by a dedicated team: Babeth and Dr Laurent Lafosse oversee global operations and educational programs; Lydie Reisenthel, practice manager, plays a central role in coordinating surgeons, fellows, and research activities; Dr Alexander Buijze and Dr Agathe Kling contribute as members of the scientific and organizational committee, while actively training fellows rotating among ASI’s surgeons.

Every two years, ASI hosts an international live surgery event, attracting surgeons from around the world to exchange techniques, innovations, and best practices.

The institute also benefits from the support of several industrial partners committed to continuous surgical education and the advancement of orthoplastic surgery.
