John Evans is a retired Principal Traction Engineer who worked at Alstom, based at the Manchester Traincare Centre. They were responsible for the design, validation, verification, and continuous improvement of the Onix Traction equipment on the Class 390 Pendolino trains. Evans drafted the first power and control schematics in 1998 and contributed significantly to a fleet that has achieved over 200 million miles. They served as a Senior Expert in Traction Systems within Alstom's engineering network and contributed to the RSSB EMC Sub-Group while also guest lecturing at the University of Birmingham since 2009. Prior to Alstom, Evans held various engineering roles at GEC Alsthom and GEC Traction.
