Eric Lee

Medical Director, Clinical Informatics at AltaMed

Eric Lee has over 15 years of work experience in the healthcare industry. Eric is currently working at AltaMed Health Services as the Medical Director of Clinical Informatics since 2018. In this role, Eric designs and implements electronic health and dental records systems and ensures their successful adoption by clinical staff. Eric also develops policies and training materials for these systems to support the organization's quality and outcome goals. Eric focuses on issues of quality, safety, usability, process improvement, and change management.

Before joining AltaMed Health Services, Eric worked at California Correctional Health Care Services from 2008 to 2018. Eric held various roles, including Deputy Medical Executive - Medical Systems and Physician Lead - Electronic Health Record System Project. In these positions, Eric led the development and implementation of an EHR program strategy, integrated evidence-based medicine concepts, and ensured compliance with legal regulations. Eric also facilitated change management processes, trained super users, and oversaw testing and progress monitoring.

Prior to that, Eric served as the Chief Physician & Surgeon in the Clinical Support Unit Southern Region at California Correctional Health Care Services from 2014 to 2016. Eric provided administrative and clinical leadership, mentored physicians, and conducted training for clinical provider performance. Eric also worked as a Physician & Surgeon in the Clinical Support Unit and conducted research, wrote reports, and performed ongoing performance assessments.

In 2015, Eric had a fellowship at Doximity, where they curated and circulated relevant medical literature to physicians. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Hospitalist at Academic Hospitalists Medical Group, Inc, The Queen's Medical Center, and NorthShore University HealthSystem. Eric also completed their residency as a Resident Physician at Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine.

Eric Lee has a strong background in clinical informatics, change management, and clinical leadership in the healthcare industry.

Eric Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology from the University of Southern California. Eric further pursued their education at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where they obtained a Medical Doctor (MD) degree. In terms of additional certifications, Eric has completed the Physician Power User Certification from Epic in January 2020. Eric also acquired the HI-FIVE: Health Informatics For Innovation, Value & Enrichment (Clinical Perspective) certification from Columbia University through Coursera in May 2017. Additionally, Eric is certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine since 2015. Eric also possesses a certification in Clinical Informatics from the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Lastly, Eric is a recipient of the Lean White Belt certification from the State of California Government Operations Agency.
