Moira McCarthy

Moira McCarthy is currently the R&D Manager at AltraTech Limited, where they focus on DNA and RNA diagnostics utilizing CMOS sensors. Previously, they completed a Ph.D. in Marine Ecotoxicology at University College Cork, where they identified biomarkers to measure the impacts of harmful algal blooms on shellfish. Moira also served as a lecturer and guest lecturer in ecotoxicology at both University College Cork and University College Dublin, sharing their expertise with MSc students. Their diverse experience includes project management and laboratory techniques related to molecular biology and environmental science. Moira holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Applied Ecology, respectively.
