James Hicklin has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. James started their career in 2011 as a Groundskeeper at Pinebrook Golf and Country Club, where they gained proficiency in maintaining the grounds and using heavy machinery. In 2013, they worked as a Web Developer at The University of British Columbia Friedman Lab, where they developed a web-based decision aid and provided IT solutions.

From 2014 to 2015, James worked as a Teaching Assistant at The University of British Columbia and then joined Scoop® MAE Enterprise Platform as a Software Developer, focusing on front-end and back-end development. James worked on the next generation release of the Scoop Mobile Awareness & Engagement platform, utilizing technologies such as AngularJS, Ruby on Rails, and eWON Flexy industrial router.

In 2018, James founded their own software consulting business, J&G Hicklin Consulting Ltd., offering services in building patient decision aids, value-based decision-support tools, and web application development.

James also worked as a Software Engineer at KNAPP Logistics Automation Inc. in Graz, Austria, where they developed customized logistics solutions using PL/SQL, C++, and Java. Notably, they led several large-scale developments for a 100-million euro project in Memphis, Tennessee.

James then became a Software Engineering Lead at Pavestep - Performance Management Made Simple, where they led the team in developing the primary Ruby on Rails system. James collaborated closely with the team and participated in successful release cycles for numerous features.

Currently, James is working as a Senior Software Engineer at Altrio since 2023. Throughout their career, they have acquired expertise in various technologies, such as Ruby on Rails, AngularJS, PL/SQL, C++, and Java, and has demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to work on diverse projects.

James Hicklin has an education history that includes a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from The University of British Columbia, which they obtained from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at The University of British Columbia from 2010 to 2014. James also attended the International School of Lausanne from 2004 to 2010, where they earned a High School diploma through the International Baccalaureate program.
