Welcome to Alvi’s Drift, home of award-winning South African wine. Our fast-expanding family-owned winery is as famous for our internationally celebrated wines as we are for our commitment to environmental sustainability, workplace empowerment and the exceptional value we offer.

Nestled in the cooler Breede River Valley wine ward of Scherpenheuvel, our third-generation winery’s ever-growing list of awards bears testimony to the passion of our head winemaker, Dr Alvi van der Merwe, and his talented team. Together they’ve built an international reputation for crafting world-class wines while evolving into one of the fastest-growing wine producers in South Africa.

As a proud WIETA member, our winery adheres to an ethical value system, offering our workforce fair compensation, quality children’s education and opportunities for career growth.

The integrity of our wine is further guaranteed by the Wine of Origin (WO) system, managed by SA’s Wine and Spirit Board (WSB). We are also IPW-certified, underscoring our commitment to environmental sustainability.

Our ever-growing list of wine awards includes Michelangelo Awards, Veritas Awards, and Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Awards. Recently, we were honoured with 25 awards at the 2023 NWC Top 100 SA Wine Awards, including two Grand Cru National Champion Best in Class awards and eight Double Platinum Top 100 SA Wine Awards.

As our brand story states, at Alvi's Drift we don’t strive to break even. We strive to break rules. We follow our gut, not the crowd, and know our heart, not our place. We celebrate taste as a matter of choice, not chance. That’s why you’ll never find us doing what’s expected. We’re too busy doing what we love.

Our award-winning red, white, rosé, sparkling, and Cap Classique wines are available in several major South African retailers and XXX countries worldwide.
